The 4.7 liter V8 engine speed a power output of 420bhp (an 11% Increase on the previous 4.3 liter unit) and deli verse peak torque of 470Nm (15% Increase), Providing the Aston Martin V8 Vantage with new Reserve of mid-range performance; an Improved 0-60mph time of 4.7 seconds and top speed of 180mph (288kph). Combined European fuel economy and CO2 emission ARE also "Improved by 13% (Sport Shift ™).

Successor to the special edition V8 Vantage N400 of 2007, the Vantage N420 is based upon the standard 4.7-liter, 420bhp, 180mph V8 Vantage and is available as a coupe or roadster, and with a six-speed manual or optional Sportshift automated manual transmission .

The Aston Martin V8 Vantage draws inspiration from the company's experiences at the Nürburgring 24-hour race. In the 2006 running of the annual Nürburgring endurance classic amongst a field of mostly motorsport homologated cars, the Aston Martin entered a near-standard road-registered V8 Vantage. Driven by a team of employees, Including Aston Martin's Chief Executive Officer, Dr Ulrich Bez, the V8 Vantage - named 'Rose' by the team - finished 4th in class and 24th overall from a field of more than 200 Specialised racing cars.

Aston Martin's own 4.7 litre V8 engine has been engineered to deliver peak power of 430 bhp (436 PS / 321 kW) at 7300 rpm and torque of 490 Nm (361 lb.ft) at 5000 rpm and is coupled with a new ground-up developed Sportshift ™ II transmission specifically designed for the Aston Martin V8 Vantage S with seven short ratio gears to deliver the most engaging and intense driver involvement.
